Southgate Homes and Neighborhood Guide
Palo Alto neighborhood guide
Southgate is a compact neighborhood of about 230 single family homes on a former Stanford family orchard, first built in the 1920s between El Camino Real, Park Boulevard, the Caltrain tracks and Churchill Avenue.
Early homes still line Madrono Avenue, and Peers Park, Town and Country Village and the California Avenue shops are all close. Palo Alto High School is literally next door, and Stanford is across El Camino Real.

Homes and Streets
Southgate's 1920s and 1930s homes include storybook cottages, Spanish Revival and Tudor designs on tidy lots, with newer rebuilds mixed in. The neighborhood is small enough that homes rarely come up, and the walk to Paly, Town and Country and the California Avenue Caltrain station keeps it popular with families.
