Menlo Park neighborhood guideUnincorporated
West Menlo Park is an unincorporated community in San Mateo County, set between the City of Menlo Park, Atherton, Sharon Heights and Stanford. Locals often call it University Heights, and the MLS lists it as the County/Alameda area.
The Alameda de las Pulgas, known simply as the Alameda, runs through the middle with a small neighborhood business district. The road follows the old Rancho de las Pulgas land grant.
Because it is unincorporated, San Mateo County handles planning and services, while the Menlo Park Fire Protection District provides fire service.

Homes and Streets
West Menlo Park is mostly single family homes on lots that typically run about 6,000 square feet, so homes sit a bit closer together than in some other Menlo Park neighborhoods. County building rules have made it a popular area for new construction, so newer homes are common alongside older ones.
The area straddles the Alameda de las Pulgas, with Sand Hill Road to the south and Sharon Heights to the west, putting Stanford, Interstate 280 and downtown Menlo Park within easy reach.
